Appropriately for this year’s centenary anniversaries, Sue has announce the theme of “Soldiers and Suffragettes”* for her 2018 challenge to branch members.
More details will appear shortly but while you wait you could be researching Suffragettes and/ or WW1 Soldiers you have a connection to. They could be a family member, someone whose story struck a chord with you, someone from your home town or street. Find out what you can about them and collect any documents or photos which inspire and interest you. You will need these as the source material to help you create an A4 sized page.
If you are thinking of trying some digital printing on fabric for this (or another project) Sue has some sheets of Cotton Inkjet fabric for sale at £1.75 per A4 sheet. She is willing to order more if there is a demand, or you can order your own. Sue uses Homecrafts.co.uk , other stockists are available. Please contact Sue B if you are interested.
* I prefer “Suffragettes & Soldiers” but it’s not my call!

If you enjoyed A Stitch in Time on telly lately, the six historic costumes made for the show are now at Ham House (west London) until 29 April, 12-4pm.
For those who did not see the programme, six historic paintings with figures were studied and the costumes within them reproduced…all the difficulties being shared and solutions produced. Very nice range of clothes.
I recently received this from Jo W:
I thought you might be interested in a piece of mass participation artwork planned to mark some women getting the vote in 1918.
It is being organised by the charity Artichoke and is a march in green, white and violet of women carrying banners. It takes place on Sunday June 10 in London, Glasgow, Cardiff and Belfast.
I am involved in a group I met on a course at the British Library to do with the suffragettes. We will be making a banner and marching in violet!
I thought EG members might be interested – you can register as an individual or a group.
The website is processions.co.uk
The start date for Threads of Time 2 is Sunday 27th May, just in case it’s already gone in to your diaries – this has been corrected in the post.
After a very long delay the dates for the Threads of Time 2 exhibition at Mill Green Museum have been announced as Sunday 27th May to Sunday 24th June.
I know I keep going on about this but several branch members were involved in this and the first Threads of Time projects. If you didn’t get to earlier exhibitions this might be your last chance to see some of these works together.
