Finders Keepers – Tales in Textiles!
In June 2015 Connie was Artist in Residence in Sumburgh Lighthouse, Shetland, during this residency she took inspiration from researching the social history aspect of the keepers and their families who stayed, worked and lived at the lighthouse. Connie recorded her findings of quotes and stories gathered in a sketchbook, this progressed into using recycled fabrics, creating a series of textile hangings with hand stitched and surface effect techniques. During the talk Connie will share her experiences and give tips on her techniques.
In February and March Connie will be returning to lead a two-part workshop. This will offer members an opportunity to develop their own “Tales in Textiles – Stories in Stitch”.
